Understanding life is not something easy. Although we live on earth the same but each person has a different perspective on life. Childhood experiences can imprint up to his death and that is experienced by Jack (Sean Penn).
As a child, Jack (Hunter McCracken) sees the world from the eyes of his mother (Jessica Chastain). Everything looks beautiful and loving. As Jack age increases, his father (Brad Pitt) starts giving education that is different from what he got from his mother. Everything looks beautiful slowly began to fade replaced gloom.
When Jack has grown, the experience of childhood was still a strong impression. Jack loses grip. World has changed, but something that is within him seemed to remain handcuff. Slowly but surely Jack began to understand life itself from the view. He began to forgive his father that he hated all this time and slowly walked down the path his own life.
