Billy Beane tried to do everything possible to baseball team he managed won the championship after stumbling at the start of the season. Statistical data also helped him to achieve the desired results.
As a baseball team manager, Oackland Athletics, Billy Beane (Brad Pitt) feels responsible for the achievements of teams that play doesn’t match what was expected by the audience.
To win the title, Billy must think about how his team can win in every game. Billy was willing to take on debt to get star players to lift the achievement of his team. But after meeting with Peter Brand (Jonah Hill), an economics graduate makes Billy mindset is change. Billy finds new way to raise achievement of his team. Not with buy star players but just with looking at statistical data of good player then they deserve to be recruited.
Finally Billy decided to overhaul the management system of Oackland Athletics team with the help of Peter. But head coach, Art Howe (Philip Seymour Hoffman) didn’t agree with the new system adopted by Billy. thus making their relationship more tenuous. But Billy still believes to the new system which he tried to apply even though the success hasn’t been tested.
Although at the beginning of the season the looks of Oackland Athletics team not as expected, but Billy convinced by the new system which he applied, Oackland Athletics team will be able to achieve great results at the end of the season.
