Alex (Guy Pearce) moved to a new house, known as the Blackwood Manor. Because the house state is messy, Alex decided to renovate and redecorate his new house. But Sally Hurst (Bailee Madison), Alex’s daughter, felt a strangeness in her new house.

At first glance view of this ancient mansion look scary. But Alex doesn’t believe in mystical things. Instead, Sally always felt there was strangeness like whispering voices that often heard by Sally on the ground floor.

Because the curious, Sally decided to follow the request of strange voice. Without she realized, Sally has opened the gates to another world. Sally tries to tell Alex and Kim (Katie Holmes), Alex’s girlfriend, about the weirdness that happens on the ground floor of their house. But Alex and Kim aren’t believing. And Sally try to prove to them that there are monsters in their house that are ready to make destruction.
